Art Deco Posters - Ships

Hey everyone,

I have a set of six framed Art Deco Posters for you depicting ship travel in the 1930's entitled "Art Deco Posters - Ships".

Art Deco replaced Art Nouveau as the major international decorative style after World War I and continued until World War II. Art Deco represented a machine age aesthetic, replacing flowing, floral motifs with streamlined, geometric designs that expressed the speed, power and scale of modern technology.

Design influences were many, from the modern art movements of Cubism, Futurism and Constructivism to ancient geometric design elements from the exotic cultures of Egypt, Assyria and Persia. In poster art, precursors of Art Deco were the German Plakatstil, the Viennese Secession, the Deutscher Werkbund, and the Parisian fashion design revolution which commenced in 1908.

The style received its name from the Decorative Arts Exposition of Paris in 1925.

Hope you enjoy!

Louis XV Aubusson Rugs

Hi Everyone,

I have a set of five Aubusson rugs for you.  These are 5 x 3 in size and entitled "Louis XV Aubusson Rugs".

Aubusson rugs date back to the Renaissance period in the town of Aubusson, located on the banks of the River Creuse in the Creuse valley of central France, about 200 miles from Paris.  The first looms were likely set up in Aubusson in the 1300's by Flemish refugees, but tapestry and rug production did not begin there until the 16th century.

Aubusson rugs' history is rich and a significant part of the revival of the arts of the Renaissance period.  They were hand woven flat wave wool rugs and tapestries originally based on Turkish designs.  In 1665 and thereafter, Aubusson rug designs were based on the motifs of Savonnerie rugs.  Savonnerie rugs were only availabe to the King, with design and production overseen by the artists and weavers of the royal courts.  With Aubusson rug designs mimicking those of Soavonnerie rugs, the became available to anyone who could afford them, typically the upper class and sophisticated aristocracy of Europe.

As always, hope you enjoy!

Scenes of Rome

Hi All,

I have a set of nine grunge prints depicting scenes of Rome called "Scenes of Rome".

Rome (or Roma in Italian) is the capital of Italy and Lazio with 2.8 million residents.  Rome is also the country's largest and most populated comune and fourth most populous city in the EU.

Rome's history spans more that two and a half thousand years!  Founded in 753 BC, it was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, which was the dominate power in Western Europe and the land bordering the Mediterranean for over 700 years.  The city is regarded as one of the birthplaces of western civilization.

These are two tile paintings and are base game compatible.

Hope you enjoy!

Another new set as requested by Katie!  This is a set of nine (I could only fit eight on the picture) paintings entitled "Monet - Water Lilies" and is a three tile painting.

Claude Monet (1840 - 1926) painted approximately 250 oil paintings of the Water Lilies.  These paintings depict Monet's lily pond at Giverny (also see Monet's Japanese Footbridge).  Many of the works were painted while Monet suffered from cataracts.

This is base game compatible.

Hope you enjoy!

Vincent Van Gogh

Hi all,

Here is a new set that was requested by Katie entitled simply "Vincent Van Gogh".  This is a mixture of still life, portraits, and landscapes.

Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 - 1890) was a Dutch  post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold colour, had a far reaching influence on 20th century art.  After painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died at the age of 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted, although no gun was ever found.  Modern critics see an artist deeply frustrated by the inactivity and incoherence brought about by his bouts of illness.  According to art critic Robert Hughes, van Gogh's late works show an artist at the height of his ability, completely in control and "longing for concision and grace".

This is a two tile painting with two colour channels and is base game compatible.

Hope you enjoy!

Monet's Japanese Footbridge

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a new set from a request from Katie; a set of nine paintings by Claude Monet entitled "The Japanese Footbridge".

The last decades of Claude Monet's (1840 - 1926) life, his prized water garden at Giverny became a subject the artist explored obsessively, painting it 250 times between 1900 and his death.  Eventually, it was his only subject.  He began construction of the water garden as soon as he moved to Giverny, petitioning local authorities to diver water from a nearby river.  The resulting landscape was Monet's invention entirely, and he used it as his creative focus and inspiration.

This is a three tile painting and is base game compatible.

Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful Bouquet

Hi all,

Well I have another object that I have done called "Beautiful Bouquet".  This is a larger bouquet of flowers is six color varieties that is base game compatible.  I figured there are so many beautiful paintings of flowers in vases that I thought I might do an actual vase with flowers!

The arrangement of flowers has a long history throughout the world.  The oldest evidence of formal arranging of bouquets in vases date back to 2500 BCE.  Ancient practices still survive today, for example in ikebana, the art of flower arranging that comes from Japan.  Flower arranging as an art form was brought to Japan by Buddhist monks, who learned it while in China.  In Europe, flower arranging as a formal art was first documented among the Dutch, who in particular, painted wonderful informal arrangements of flowers.

Hope you enjoy!

Faces

Hi everyone,

Today I have a set of nine canvas abstract paintings, stretched on a frame entitled "Faces".  These colorful paintings will brighten up any modern room.

The face is the feature which best distinguishes a person.  Faces are essential to expressing emotion, consciously or unconsciously.  A frown denotes disapproval; a smile usually means someone is pleased.

Who sees the human face correctly:  the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?                                                                                                                                                                                      Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973)

This is a two tile painting, and is base game compatible.

Objet d'art - Venus Bust

Hi All,

Well, something different today!

I have for you a wonderful bust converted from the Sims 2 which I call "Objet d'art - Venus Bust".  Although this item is not referred to as this in the Sims 2, it always reminded me of Venus.

Venus is the Roman goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory.  She is considered the mother of the Roman people through her son Aeneas who survived the fall of Troy and fled to Italy.

This item has two re-colour channels, the bust and base.

As always, hope you enjoy!

Dutch Golden Age of Art Ships

Hi All,

Today I have for you a custom mesh of Dutch paintings produced in the Golden Age of Dutch Art by various artists entitled "Dutch Golden Age of Art - Ships".  This is a two tile painting that is base game compatible.

This era spans the 16th and 17th centuries, during and after the Eighty Years War (1568 - 1648) for Dutch Independence.  The Dutch Republic was the most prosperous country in Europe and led in trade, science and art (not to mention the wonderful chocolate, silver, tulips, cheese and waterway system!).  Falling within the Baroque Period of painting, these works do show these characteristics, but most lacks the idealization and love of splendor typical of much of the Baroque work elsewhere in Europe.  Another distinct feature of Golden Age of Dutch Art is a majority of the artists would only paint within a distinct genre (i.e. ships, flowers, portraits).

Hope you enjoy!

Modern Renaissance

Hi everyone,

Today I have a set of nine paintings called "Modern Renaissance".  These are paintings from various artists from the Renaissance Era, framed with a modern frame.

Renaissance art is the painting, sculpture and decorative arts of that period of European history know as the Renaissance, emerging as a distinct style in Italy in about 1400, in parallel with developments in philosophy, literature, music and science.  Renaissance art marks the transition of Europe from the medieval period to the early modern age.  By 1500 the Renaissance style of art prevailed over Late Medieval art.

This is a new two tile mesh that is base game compatible.

Hope you enjoy!
